Physical vapor deposition (PVD) describes a variety of vacuum deposition methods used to deposit thin films by the condensation of a vaporized form of the desired film material onto various workpiece surfaces.
The coating method involves purely physical processes such as high-temperature vacuum evaporation with subsequent condensation, or plasma sputter bombardment rather than involving a chemical reaction at the surface to be coated as in chemical vapor deposition.
• PVD coatings are harder and more corrosion resistant than coatings applied by the electroplating process. Most coatings have high temperature and good impact strength, excellent abrasion resistance and are so durable.
• PVD coating is gaining in popularity for many reasons, including that it enhances a product’s durability. In fact, studies have shown that it can enhance the lifespan of an unprotected product tenfold.
PVD is a way to make nano thin-films onto the metal surface, and it’s more environmentally friendly than traditional coatings. The coatings applied by PVD we offer are Ag, Cu ,Al , TiN, ZrN, CrN, TiAlN, TiC, TiCN, TiO, etc...
The layer of PVD could reach nanometer (0.3μm~5μm) and the metal film can be 0.3μm~1μm. Therefore, it is highly possible that PVD enhances both physical and chemical performances without influencing the original size of any workpiece, and protective topcoats are almost never necessary.
